Incredibly, there are over 600 community fridges running around the UK and plenty more are setting up.
A community fridge is open to anyone and everyone interested in reducing food waste.
All food supplied must be within its use-by date and is usually surplus food which our volunteers collect daily from local supermarkets or from partner food redistribution organisations, such as Fareshare and the Oxford Food Hub.
As it is surplus food, we never know exactly what we will have available from day to day. Pop along on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday to find out!
We follow WRAP’s food redistribution guidelines for products with a best before date and 47 of our volunteers have received Food Hygiene & Safety Level 2 certification.
